Freddie Slater sets the pace in the wet at Monza in Free Practice 1



The first session goes to the British driver, determined to seal the deal in Euro 4 after being crowned Italian Champion

Testing in wet conditions continued this morning at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. In the first of two 40-minute free practice sessions scheduled for today, the air temperature was 13.1°C, while the track temperature was 15.4°C. At the end of the session, the fastest time was recorded by Freddie Slater, who completed the best lap at the Temple of Speed in 2'02.174. The English driver from Prema Racing had already been crowned champion in the Italian F4 Championship in Barcelona last weekend, one round early, and now arrives at Monza as the points leader in the Euro 4 Championship.

In second place was Hiyu Yamakoshi from the Land of the Rising Sun. The Van Amersfoort Racing driver, besides being the closest challenger to Slater in the morning session with a gap of 0.163 seconds, also holds the same position in the standings. Third in the session was Kean Nakamura-Berta, an Alpine Academy driver from Prema Racing, with a gap of 0.

267 seconds. Prema Racing placed two more drivers in the top five, with Tomass Stolcermanis in fourth place at 0.295 seconds behind, followed by Mercedes Junior driver Alex Powell, 0.610 seconds behind.

Rounding out Free Practice 1 in sixth place was Finnish driver Luka Sammalisto from R-ace GP, with a gap of 0.661 seconds, followed by Italian driver Davide Larini from PHM AIX Racing, 0.702 seconds behind Freddie Slater. Completing the top ten were Gustav Jonsson from Van Amersfoort Racing in eighth place with a gap of 0.876 seconds, Romanian driver Luca Viisoreanu from Real Racing in ninth place, 0.987 seconds behind the leader, and Chinese driver Enzo Yeh from R-ace GP in tenth place with a gap of 1.121 seconds.



There will be another chance to test the track before the first day of the ACI Racing Weekend Monza concludes. The Euro 4 Championship drivers will return to the track today, Friday, October 4, for Free Practice 2 from 13:20 to 14:00. Tomorrow, Saturday, October 5, the grand finale of the season will kick off with qualifying, on track from 8:30 to 8:45 for the first session, followed by the second from 8:55 to 9:10. Race 1 will then take place at 14:50. On Sunday, October 6, Race 2 will start at 8:40, and the final race of the 2024 Euro 4 Championship will begin at 15:40.

The three races of the weekend will last 30 minutes + 1 lap and will be broadcast live on the YouTube and Facebook channels of the Euro 4 Championship, as well as on ACI Sport TV (Sky channel 228, Tivù Sat channel 52, and streaming on www.acisport.it). Additionally, the coverage will extend to a vast network of international TV channels, including the DAZN platform, ensuring global visibility for a championship that continues to grow in public interest within the landscape of junior racing series.
